it's so strange to look back at myself exactly one year ago.

the things i did, the people i trusted, my dreams and goals at the time.
it's so strange to see how much one year could make such an impact on my life. everything's changed and i realized that it's always been like that since the beginning of freshmen year. maybe it's the whole "discovering yourself" thing. no, people just come and go out of my life so quickly. we say we'll stay friends and keep in touch but it never truly happens. sometimes the connection just gets lost and things just never seem to be same ever again.

but a few people that i'm lucky to have in my life. the few people that have stayed constant with me. the few people that haven't just come and go. i'm lucky to be able to rely on them, to trust them, and share the best moments of my life with. i want to thank them for being the only thing that's never changed.

i'm also thankful to have met someone so incredible in my life.

r a w r xduckie (10:11:16 PM): which wasnt' real at all because the colonists revolted and drove him out in 1692.

Bye Summer 2008.

So here is where I write a big long paragraph about how much I've grown over the summer and all the unforgettable moments and everything I've learned. But, I don't know. I don't think I've learned anything this summer. I didn't travel far places and I didn't even have many firsts. I didn't complete my summer goals list and now that a new year is starting, it feels nothing different. I suppose summer never really started for me, so I don't really see this as an ending. The day that school let out, I just wished I could go back. I still have that same feeling, but I just wish I didn't procrastinate all of my homework until the very last week. Instead of going to the beach with my family today, I'm at home waiting for Sandra to come over so we can exchange APUSH answers and help each other memorize terms. But while I'm waiting, why not reminisce over the summer things I did:

Lien Doan Birthday at Sanbourn Park.
Going to the mall with Andrew, Jacqueline, Nathan & Jeff was interesting.
Spending 2 whole weeks with Sara while she was in San Jose.
Great America with Juan to see Kaba Modern.
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk the day right after.
Baking a cake with Dean.
Bintang Thursdays with badminton gang.
Sleepovers with Jacqueline.
Valley Fair with Phi, Kim, Lam, and Linh.
Eating at Lori's Diner with Mom and David for the first time.
Seeing Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants & Dark Knight.
Having the lady at Urban Decay do my make up.... numerous times.
Saying goodbye to Vivian =(
My first CalSkate trip with Linh, Kim, Ben and Mikey.
Co An's and Ken's wedding in Oakland.
Late night phonecalls.
Seeing everybody at orientation.
Andrea's pool party.
& Malibu with the Ventures have made this summer worthwhile.

But the biggest event of this summer that will change my life is probably my Grandpa. I've never cried so much and been in so much pain and being forced to see the rest of my family feel the same way. In his last days, he's given me gifts that nobody else would be able to give me. He gave me a sense of what I want to do with the rest of my life, he gave me a reunion that I'd been forbidden from for too long, he gave me some more religious experience that I'd never received, showed me another lifestyle of living without meat, and he's taught me that life goes on after hardships. Forever will he rest in peace, Tran Nguyen Bao.

And so, as I conclude this entry. Perhaps I was wrong. This summer did give me memories, experiences, and firsts. Good times can't always happen without some bad times. And a smile can't always happen without some tears. This summer was worthwhile and I look forward to another school year where I'll be able to utilize all my abilities and strengths to make this my best year of high school. Yeah?
